Mod 3

modern house with light wooden exterior
Mod 3, constructed during the spring semester of 2006, is located in the historic Strawberry Hill neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas. Placed on the highest point of the hill and overlooking the city skyline, Mod 3 remains connected to the historic neighborhood and urban core while pioneering the future of affordable housing and sustainable design.

The bold location is matched by the striking form of the house and it rainscreen cladding of Douglas Fir strips – it appears perched on top of the hill. The design promotes natural cross ventilation, the floor-to-ceiling south glazing brings in natural light and promotes solar heat gain.
