Clinton Marina Patio

An image of tables and chairs on a floating dock, with a curved shading device overhead
This project consisted of design, prototyping and fabrication of parts for a new patio and shade structure for Clinton Marina in Clinton Lake State Park. Students designed the overhead structure, the stage, high-top tables, the beverage servery and a structure for the fuel station at the far end of the dock complex. The dock structure and deck was built by a professional dock manufacturer, with the remainder of the parts installed by Clinton Marina staff.

The structure consists of square tube columns that connect to the dock; rolled, galvanized channels that form the "wave" and clips that support the folded sheet metal shading slats. The servery, which was built by students, has a concrete countertop supported by a galvanized metal frame, and clad in the same material as the wave form structure.
