933 Pennsylvania Street House

modern house with red, yellow, and gray facade
This project was Studio 804’s first house for the city of Lawrence. With support from the Division of Housing and Neighborhood Development through Community Development Block Grant funds, 933 Pennsylvania was designed and realized during the spring semester of 1998. Taking advantage of the natural grade, the house is sited on the back side of the lot, allowing for an intermediate loft/study to be included in the final design. Reclaimed materials were implemented throughout the design, which included the reuse of a former industrial storage system for the porch as well as flooring taken from a VFW hall slated for demolition.
