This project was Studio 804’s first house built for the City of Lawrence. With support from the Division of Housing and Neighborhood Development through Community Development Block Grant funds, 933 Pennsylvania was designed and built during the spring semester of 1998. Taking advantage of the natural grade, the house is positioned toward the back of the lot, allowing for an intermediate loft/study to be incorporated into the design. Reclaimed materials were used throughout the project, including a former industrial storage system repurposed for the porch and flooring salvaged from a VFW hall slated for demolition.
