216 Alabama Street

modern house with orange exterior
216 Alabama Street, Studio 804’s first house for Tenants to Homeowners – an organization devoted to providing affordable housing to qualified buyers. Accessibility and use of innovative materials guided the design process. Elevating the house above the falling grade allowed for full accessibility to the occupants. The large open plan of the 1300 square foot Interior has a finished floor of bamboo, with recycled tires used on the bathroom floor. Okume, a material normally used in boat building, is applied as siding. In addition, recycled aluminum sheets are utilized as interior finishes in the bathrooms as well as the garage roof.
