1144 Pennsylvania, Studio 804’s second house, was completed in the spring semester of 1999. Built in the city of Lawrence, this three bedroom, two bathroom home is designed to be universally accessible for all occupants. Taking advantage of the south facing corner lot a solar light box floods the 1300 square foot interior with sunlight in the winter yet remains shaded in the summer by trees to the south. The exterior cement fiber siding is vented through a system that promotes longevity within the wall assembly, resulting in a corncrib aesthetic that is virtually maintenance free.
